BOPF Black Tea stands for Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, a grade of black tea characterized by smaller, broken leaves that brew quickly and produce a strong, robust flavor. The “BOPF” grading indicates that the tea leaves are not whole but are smaller fragments, often used in tea bags due to their ability to infuse quickly and consistently.
BOPF black tea has a brisk, bold flavor with a slightly astringent taste and can sometimes exhibit malty or fruity undertones, depending on the variety and region where it is grown. This type of tea is often chosen for its strength and intensity, making it an ideal option for those who prefer a more assertive cup of tea. It can be enjoyed plain or with milk and sugar, and it’s particularly well-suited for a hearty morning brew or an afternoon pick-me-up.
