How to Cold Brew Tea (with Ceylon Black & Green)
Share
Cold brew isn't just for coffee. Brewing tea slowly in cold water makes a remarkably smooth, naturally sweet, low-bitterness iced tea — and it couldn't be easier. It's one of the fastest-growing ways people drink tea.
Why cold brew?
Hot water extracts tannins fast, which can taste bitter when iced. Cold water extracts gently over time, so you get all the flavour and aroma with far less bitterness — and naturally lower caffeine.
The method
- Add 1 tablespoon of loose leaf tea per 500ml of cold water in a jug or bottle.
- Refrigerate 6–12 hours (black tea ~8h, green ~6h).
- Strain, pour over ice, and add lemon, mint or a little honey if you like.
