Iced Chai Latte at Home: Cold-Brew Ceylon Chai for Hot Days
Share
Cold brew has become the defining way a new generation drinks tea — smoother, sweeter-tasting and endlessly refreshing. And no tea rewards the cold treatment quite like a real masala chai, where slow steeping draws out cardamom, cinnamon and ginger without a trace of bitterness.
Method one: true cold brew (the smooth one)
- Add 3 heaped teaspoons of SOO Masala Chai Gold to 500 ml of cold water in a jar or bottle.
- Refrigerate for 8–12 hours — overnight is perfect.
- Strain, pour over ice, and top with cold milk or oat milk. Sweeten with honey if you like.
Cold water extracts gently, so the spice arrives round and mellow — no astringency, no bite.
Method two: the 10-minute shaker chai
- Brew 2 heaped teaspoons (or one tea bag) strong — 150 ml water, 5 minutes.
- Cool briefly, then shake hard with ice and 100 ml milk until frothy.
- Pour over fresh ice.
Make it yours
Float a shot of espresso on top for an iced dirty chai, or cold-brew our Ceylon Green Tea alongside for a lighter option. You'll find every tea that shines cold in our Cold Brew collection.
One rule above all: start with whole spices and real Ceylon leaf. Syrups and dust taste thin over ice — the real thing never does.
