25 individually sealed bags — about RM2.20 a cup. The same nine-spice blend as our loose chai, portioned for days you haven't got a pan.
What's actually in the bag
Single-estate Ceylon black tea with cardamom, cinnamon, clove, star anise, nutmeg, black peppercorns, ginger, turmeric and cumin — nine spices, chosen in the Ayurvedic tradition to work in synergy rather than compete.
Most chai tea bags on a supermarket shelf use three or four spices and make up the difference with flavouring. Ours is the identical blend we sell loose, milled fine enough to infuse through paper.
What a cup costs you
- 25 bags — roughly RM2.20 a cup.
- A chai latte in a Kuala Lumpur café — RM12 to RM16.
- Want it cheaper? The loose 100g tin is the same blend at about RM1.70 a cup.
How to brew it
For a proper milky chai: one bag in 100ml water at a full boil, 3–4 minutes — longer than you would steep ordinary tea, because the spices need the time. Then add 100ml hot milk and sweeten to taste.
Black: one bag, 200ml water at 95–100°C, 2–3 minutes. Spiced Ceylon black with real depth — worth trying once before you decide chai has to have milk.
Do not add cold milk before steeping. It drops the water temperature and the spices never open up.
Bags or loose — which should you buy?
These bags are for the office, travel and hotel rooms: no pan, no strainer, no mess. You are paying for the convenience, not a different tea.
The loose tin is for home. Double the tea, you control the strength, and it makes the proper simmered-on-the-stove cup. It is what most people re-order.
